Allusions: Knowing
In the film "Knowing", we follow M.I.T. Professor John Koestler, Nic Cage, as he uncovers the mystery of a mysterious set of numbers that were given to his son. After much research, John discovers that these numbers predict tragic events that have and will happen. He then tracks down the daughter of the woman who wrote down all the numbers and questions her about her mom. After finding out that both this woman's daughter and John's own son have both been followed by mysterious whispering men, the group drives around trying to figure out what is happening. John then discovers that the world is going to end in a matter of days and the kids go with the whispering men, who turn out to be aliens, and start a new world, while the Earth is encased by a solar flare. Throughout the film there are several references to the bible, especially Revelations. In fact, one of the songs on the soundtrack is entitled "Revelations". This is because in the book of Revelations in the bible is the final book. The book of Revelations is referenced in Jane Eyre as well. At the last evening prayer attended by Jane, St. John reads from the Book of Revelations. It is very fitting for him to be reading it because it is an end to his story in the novel.
