Welcome!

Welcome.

Here on my blog I will be comparing Charlotte Bronte's literary classic, Jane Eyre, to the filmography of Nicolas Cage. There are many similarities between the two works of art and I will do my best to show these similarities in detail. In case you are unfamiliar with the story of Jane Eyre, here is a short synopsis:

The story of Jane Eyre follows a woman as she progresses through he life. Jane Eyre was an orphan who was forced to live with her wretched aunt and cousins after the death of her parents. After living with her aunt for a while she was sent to a school for girls where she had only one friend, Helen Burns, who died after knowing Jane for just a short. After growing up, Jane became a governess and found work at Gateshead, an estate owned by Mr. Rochester. While at Gateshead, Jane fell in love with Rochester and when he finally asks for her hand in marriage, Jane discovers that Rochester is already married to a mad woman who lives in his attic. Jane then leaves Gateshead and is forced to beg until she is taken in by St. John. Jane stays with him for a while, but it is eventually discovered that Jane and St. John are relatives and they all inherit money from Jane's Uncle Eyre. St. John then forces his love upon Jane which makes her leave and goes to find Rochester who is living in a small home after being blinded in a fire where his mad wife had perished. Jane then spends the rest of her days with Rochester.

Also, enjoy this picture of Nicolas Cage.

  1. Your blog is hilarious and the puns are hilarious! And the concept is really good, the only improvement I have is to maybe write more about Jane and the connections between the movie and Jane Eyre.

  2. Mr. Parsons, I believe this is one of the funniest things I have seen in a long time. All of the titles for your pages are so creative, I don't think I could ever come up with stuff that creative. I have to say, when you first told me that you were doing your blog on Nicolas Cage, I had my doubts. But now, I could not be more wrong. You will rise to do great things in your life if you can stay this creative. And the pictures are rather incredible. You really have given me a feel for how versatile Mr. Cage is. I never knew how many movies he has been in. Thank you for sharing your gift of knowledge with the world.

  3. I can't tell what I like more, the fact that you made a blog connecting Jane Eyre to Nick Cage, or the puns. This blog is great but there are a few problems. One is on the dictations, you connected the two stories but never really talked about dictation or specified imagery, similes, puns, etc. There were also a few stretches like con-eyre you connected to a quote with a bird metaphor. Other than that it was pretty awesome, nice job!

  4. I really thought that you did a good job on the making of this blog. This allusion between "Drive Angry" and Paradise Lost, and Jane Eyre and Paradise Lost, is really clever. I haven't seen most of the movies you discuss on the blog, but I did recognize some. On the page where you compare Jane Eyre to National Treasure, you described how both Ben and Jane come from similar family lives and I found that interesting, as I would not have thought of that myself. The “Ice and Fire” theme that is in both Jane Eyre and Ghost Rider was also something that I would not have noticed. Also, I greatly enjoyed the picture of Nicholas Cage's head on a surfacing whale (/shark-thing?). Great job on the blog, I found it amusing and enjoyed seeing the pictures and gifs!!
